Are your CSR’s qualified?

Colorful CE is excited to announce the launch of the very competitively priced Certificate in CSR training in North America, known as the CertCSR, on the 1st October 2022.

Colorful CE LLC was founded and run by Christine Weaver, a Specialist Vet Tech, MA, working in junction with Associate Professor Dr Brian Faulkner FRCVS and Kay Watson-Bray. Colorful CE is a sister company of Colourful CPD which is the leading provider of non-clinical skills training in Europe, and helps all roles in veterinary practice contribute to the 4 outcomes of successful veterinary practice; good clinical, good client, good commercial and good team outcomes.

Colorful CE specialises in training CSRs by working in partnership with the International Veterinary Receptionist Association (IVRA). The IVRA evolved out of the success of the British Veterinary Receptionist Association (BVRA) which has trained over 8,000 veterinary receptionists in the UK since it launched on 1st October 2017. The CertCSR is an adaptation of the British ‘Accredited Veterinary Receptionist Award’.

The bronze level of the CertCSR takes the form of 25 short online tutorials that cover the essential technical information that CSRs need to know about preventative healthcare, as well as the essential information you need to be able to triage calls and field questions when pet owners contact the practice when their pets are ill or injured. This level incorporates a multitude of tips and tactics relating to customer service as well as how to field questions about prices, especially when new pet owners are calling around their local practices to compare prices for the likes of vaccinations, neutering and consultation fees.

There’s also a module which focuses on requesting payment, scheduling follow-up appointments as well as dispensing and handing over any prescribed medications.

When a CSR purchases the bronze level of the CertCSR, Colorful CE includes one-year complimentary introductory membership to the International Veterinary Receptionist Association.

The silver level of the CertCSR looks at how all of the knowledge covered in the bronze level is applied at YOUR practice. This is achieved using a combination of online task sheets and an in-practice mentor. Just like the bronze level, there is no time limit with regards to how long you take to complete the silver level of the CertCSR.

The final gold level of the CertCSR takes veterinary CSR education and professionalism to an even more advanced level. As well as covering IT communication skills, wellbeing and mental health, and supporting clients through bereavement, the gold level of the CertCSR incorporates the International Veterinary Receptionist Association’s Principles of Professional Contribution by CSRs in veterinary practice.

This is relevant since anyone who completes the CertCSR is entitled to become a fully registered member of the IVRA, the vanguard of CSR professionalism.

And finally, a one-hour version of Dr Faulkner’s incredibly popular course on veterinary consulting skills, known as the Colourful Consultation, is also available via This course has been delivered in over 20 countries around the world.  Colorful CE will continue to develop and adapt its wide range of UK courses to help other roles within veterinary practice improve their non-clinical skills such as communication, business, management and leadership courses that its sister company Colourful CPD currently distributes across the globe.
